FAQ

  • Can you DJ (play music from our mp3 player) and MC on the day?

I've done similar things for my previous clients, but it often involved a helper (guest or my assistant) who is assigned to monitor the media device while I am hosting, especially at the beginning of the event during the introduction of the bridal party. I’d brief the helper so that they know exactly what to do to achieve the effect we’d want for each section of the event.

Often than not, the distance from the music station to where the MC stands is not near enough to multitask, hence why the helper is needed. This can still be done, you should expect a lag and period of complete silence before and after an announcement.

Alternatively, hiring an additional coordinator is an option or asking the venue coordinator if this is something within their service package.

  • As part of the coordination duties, would you also be able to assist with providing ideas for any activities/games to do as part of the reception? We are hoping to add some activities to keep the guests engaged.

Yes, I do help you with coming up with activities if you would like. Sometimes, your bridal party may like to be involved, and I can work with them to come up with games too. You will be responsible for the props and prizes depending on the types of games we play.

  • What games can we play at the reception?

There are so many options! I will post it up in the blog sometimes, but in the meantime, Google is the best source for some inspiration!

  • How would the communication between us look like? Do you mainly communicate via email, phone, or in person meetings?

Communication usually begins with a Zoom or in person meeting, it would help me learn more about who you are and how you would like me to be involved in the process.

We would meet again at least 1 month before the event to go over the details and finalise the runsheet. In between those meetings, you are welcome to email me and request phone calls.

  • When would we begin the planning of everything? Is that done in the early stages, or at a later stage?

In our initial meeting, we would go over the runsheet template and I will advise you on what needs your attention, and how to go about planning the big day.

The earlier you know what needs to be considered, the more informed your decisions will be. From then onwards, if you send me your runsheet revision/s, I will provide you with feedback.

  • What is the payment process? Eg. Is a deposit required?

After the initial meeting, I will forward you with the invoice and deposit information. It is usually around 35% of the total, and the balance is due 28 days prior to the wedding.

  • We don't want a first dance

Change it up! While many couples enjoy having the first dance, it is also customisable. You can either change up the music you are dancing to, try a different style of dance, or scrap it completely and do something else. The most surprising one I have seen in my time was sumo wrestling which later turned into a group activity. Super unique!

  • Can you marry us?

Legally, no. I have hosted ceremonies for couples who have already signed the legal papers but for a variety of reasons did not have a public display of their commitment to matrimony. There has also been the case where I was the Mandarin translator while a civil marriage celebrant solemnised the marriage.

You can ask me about this if you would like to know more details.
